Internet – a threat or an opportunity?

FinnTech is not a traditional supplier of technology and technical services, but first and foremost part of a media company with great success within online classifieds. One of the fundamental ideas behind FinnTech is to attempt to transfer part of this success to other publishers who want to develop its online classified business in the same direction as Finn.no in Norway and FinnTech.

FinnTech owns the iAd Platform, which may be - and has been - used as a toolbox and a basis for establishing online solutions for classifieds in several markets where publishers share the same basic philosophy:

Internet is an unavoidable threat to the classified publishers print business, but it can at the same time represent an enormous business opportunity.

So easy – and at the same time so difficult.

In our more than 10 years of experience with online classifieds we have clearly seen that the one single mistake that most print classified publishers have done in order to solve “The Internet Challenge” is to treat Internet as a threat and a threat only to their classified business. Those (still few) publishers who have succeeded within this business have been able to mind shift their organizations into looking for what kind of future opportunities could be explored using Internet to serve the classified industry and support such development heavily from the print side.

We believe the strongest strategy you as a print publisher can develop to succeed within online classified business is to establish a strategy where you dare to attack yourself!
